MCI to promote smooth Brexit transition for EU and UK clients at METSTRADE Connect

Marine Components International (MCI) is to take part in the METSTRADE Connect event on December 10.

It is an entirely new virtual platform built to connect the leisure marine industry.

MCI MD Andy Scott said he is looking to set up virtual meetings to showcase the benefits of MCI’s range including Groco bronze valves and strainers, Duarry liferafts, EchoPilot Forward Looking Sonar Lasdrop shaft seals Anchorlift Norway AS windlasses,  Rocna Anchors and Sailtimer anemometers.

“We were gutted to miss out on the physical METs this year as one of the prime events in the marine calendar,” he said. “So it is great to have METSTRADE Connect as an innovative digital alternative. A key message we will be giving customers, and the industry, is MCI’s preparedness for Brexit. We have signed a new agreement with the transport and logistics company Europa Worldwide to ensure a smooth transition of supply of goods for our customers in Europe and the UK – whether there is a Brexit deal or not. This will remove headaches over VAT and duty and remove delays. We were also due to celebrate our 30th year of trading at METs with our friends and contacts and plan to take that over to METs 2021 now.”

EUROPA FLOW BACKGROUND & BENEFITS

Europa has spent the last 12 months developing this simple and effective customs process designed to minimise transit time delays.

The basic premise of the product is that delays are created by the need to contact importers prior to delivery, to agree terms, and collect VAT and duty prior to delivery.

The new product Europa FLOW is designed to circumvent these issues.

It achieves this by Europa acting as an EU Global VAT representative for its customers, zero rating EU import VAT and billing duty and fees back to the UK party.

These steps, plus the use of Frontier Declarations, will mean that clearance occurs whilst the goods cross the channel. By the time they arrive on the other side, they are free to deliver.

To deliver the service Europa has created two strategically located customs brokerage businesses known as 'Frictionless Trade Services' in Lille, France as well as Oostende in Belgium.   In addition to the UK team in Dartford.  These operations will manage export and import declarations and all of the associated work required to facilitate the product.
